When a young elf girl named Hazel is lost in the woods after her village is destroyed by enemy raiders, she meets a elf boy her age named Cosmo. Hazel's new life begins as she becomes absorbed in the information of her apothecary adopted mother and learning about spells and herbs, while she continues visiting Cosmo every day. But when Hazel turns 16 and she becomes forced to train to fight in the rink for their king, Hazel slowly drifts away from Cosmo and the walls start to close in on her.
