Eli grew up believing that the tale about the Flower Painter was true: that a person is cursed to live alone, trapped in a forest, to create all the world's flowers simply by painting them, and that any attempt to leave would cause them to vanish. But when Eli and the painter, Anthus, finally meet, he learns that their reality is far removed from the myth, and that he has an undeniable duty to break the Painter's Curse.
