Von is an enforcer for a Chinatown crime syndicate and has spent his life obeying ruthless orders from his bosses. After a rival ambush leaves him near death, he seizes the chaos and escapes to a new life. Von re-emerges in the insular, rainy town of Ashbourne where he works as a humble tea shop worker. However, a sudden murder and rumors of a giant bird cryptid drives a wrench into his new life.
