Two hundred years after the world fell silent, the villagers of Lyilae, Russia, all experience a shared, prophetic dream. In this dream, they are told to "Return to Hurricane Island". Based on this, they come to the rational conclusion that a girl born that night, Luka, should be the one to undertake this quest and that she is the beacon of hope the planet has been missing for so many years. Her assigned Guardian, Alec, is less than convinced.
