Hisashi has one year to prove his love is true by shedding a tear that will transform into a pearl. He's met lots of prospective mergirls, but his tears won't turn into a pearl, and in the village where he comes from, a horrible fate awaits those who fail to find their forever partner. Along the way, Hisashi meets Chiharu, the cursed human girl from a fishing village who has outcasted her. Will Hisashi find his one true love, or does fate have another path in mind?
