Yde and Olive is a medieval French romance that is a continuation of a larger cycle of stories belonging to the “Huon de Bordeaux” canon. This cycle tells the story of Yde, a princess who flees her kingdom to escape her father’s incestuous advances after the death of his wife. Disguising herself as a man, Yde journeys to another kingdom where she becomes an extremely skilled warrior, catching the attention of Princess Olive, who falls in love with Yde.
